Dracula Untold

If you are a fan of non-sparkly vampires then this one may be for you.  It features Welsh actor Luke Evans, as Dracula and Charles Dance (Tywin Lannister) as a very Nosferatu-esque elder vampire. Strikes me as a meshing of the Romanian nationalist version of the tale with a mixture of Stoker’s Dracula. Out in October apparently.

Good looking, isn't he? I know about the historical Dracula, whom I researched for my first book, Monsters And Creatures Of The Night. ( There was a fabulous illo of his chopoed off head by Marilyn Pride, who was commissioned by A&U to do the internals). National hero or not, he was not a nice man and you can totally see why he was reworked as a vampire. Did you know he had some descendants? The family had to adopt someone, I think, a few years ago, to keep the title going.

I have this vague memory that Charles Dance may have played Dracula himself many years ago.

Yes, I must admit that I am slightly uncomfortable with the idea of making a hero out of him. I can totally see Charles Dance as Dracula though
